EII's Unique Teaching Method

All classes at EII of Australia are taught using the Image Lesson Method (ILM).
The ILM, unique to EII, is a highly effective language learning process that facilitates the retention of Japanese by using images, gestures and association.
One of the main obstacles to speaking fluent Japanese is often the tendency to translate directly from English. Given that Japanese and English are so different, the translation can often be unclear or misleading. EII of Australia's aim is to provide a style of learning that eliminates the process of translation, while encouraging students to express themselves as the Japanese do. These aims can best be achieved by learning the target language - Japanese - in its cultural context, and without the aid of English translations. EII's Image Lesson Method allows the student to do just that!

Text Books & Materials

EII uses the text 'Hyaku-Man Nin-No Nihongo' for all Beginner and Intermediate levels. Other materials used in these levels include exercise books for Hiragana, Katakana and Kanji practice, and Hiragana cards to assist students when learning this Japanese script.

Advance A students make use of an exercise book put together by EII teachers and staff.

Advance B students use the advance level 'Naganuma' text, which is put together and printed by the well
known and respected Naganuma Japanese Language School in Tokyo.

Advance C students make use of recent and relevant newspaper articles and advertisements.
