From the author of Every Dead Thing, Dark Hollow and The Killing Kind, comes THE WHITE ROAD, the best yet from Connolly.
Charlie Parker is back, fighting for his life, and that of his wife.
And the demonic preacher, Faulkner, is out for revenge at the same time as Parker is investigating the rape of a young daughter of the wealthy Earl Larousse. Accused is her black boyfriend, Atys Jones. But deep in the swamps something lurks...something connected to a long ago crime, and it wants vengeance... For both families have a long history of murder and slavery...and secrets.
Angel and Louis are also back creating their own revenge, and helping Charlie out as usual. The racial tension is a key feature of this book and Charlie has to work through it to solve the case. Connolly handles the racial aspect well, and doesn't overstep the mark.
While slow to start, fans of the Charlie/Angel/Louis relationship will be delighted to be embarking on another adventure.
Connolly is making a claim for the best crime writer around...and he makes a damn good case for it.
