The Lake scheduled for April 2004
Confirmation from Bob Tanner, Richard's agent, that the next Laymon release from Hodder Headline in the UK, scheduled for April 2004, is called The Lake. No more details at this stage, but as soon as we get them - you'll find them here!
Leisure confirm "uncut Laymon."
Don D'Auria has confirmed that the next batch of Laymon releases through Leisure
Books in the US will be uncut, taken straight from Laymon's own files and not
from the UK proofs. Here's part of what he had to say:
"It's now official. We are taking our text for Blood
Games and Body Rides from Dick Laymon's
original manuscripts, not the British editions. This way we can be sure we
are presenting the books as Dick intended, without any cuts or deletions that
his British publisher may have made. We will do this whenever possible from
now on, whenever the original material still exists. For example, our edition
of To Wake the Dead, coming in September, is
taken directly from Dick's manuscript, not from the British edition, which
they titled AMARA.
This is very exciting for all of us, and I imagine all of Dick's fans will
be delighted to have this opportunity to read the books the way Dick wrote
them. I know I'm thrilled." -- Don D'Auria.

Quick Update...
Hi everyone. Due to the KISS Symphony playing their one-off show in Melbourne
last night, and my duties as reporter for the Kissonline
website, this month's update will be a brief one... I rocked hard, I've had
no sleep, I'm still wearing my makeup, I have no voice and I can't hear a thing...

Update from Leisure
AMARA becomes TO WAKE THE DEAD
Here's the latest exclusive update from Don D'Auria at Leisure Books. Note
the US name change for AMARA, as well as the upcoming
Laymon releases for 2003. Our "Laymon Dates" board at the top of this page has
been changed to reflect the new schedule...
"I asked our production head to send you an electronic file of the cover for what the British publishers are calling Amara, but what we're calling To Wake the Dead, so you should be getting that soon. (And we'll upload it here as soon as we get it! -- Steve)
A special note: we went back to Dick's unedited manuscript for our edition of To Wake the Dead. I understand that the British publisher had a tendency to cut some things from Dick's books. I don't know for sure what, if anything, they cut from Amara, but rest assured there will be no cuts in our edition.
In other news, Leisure is launching a new line of thrillers in August, to be a companion to our horror line. The thrillers will be non-supernatural suspense, covering a wide spectrum from psychological thrillers to political thrillers, medical thrillers to legal thrillers to techno-thrillers. I'm anticipating some definite crossover between the horror line and the thrillers. For example, our launch thriller will be East of the Arch by Rober Randisi, who we've previously published in the horror line. I'll keep you posted as other books in the thriller line can be announced.
So here's the horror schedule from May to December, 2003..."
The updated schedule can be found on our Screams of Leisure page. The new Laymon releases: No Sanctuary, To Wake the Dead (Hardcover), and Blood Games can be found in the "Laymon Dates" table at the top of this page.
In Laymon's Terms - the wait is almost over.
In other exciting news, we will be able to announce very shortly more details about the Laymon tribute anthology, In Laymon's Terms. This one's been a long time coming, but the wait will be worth it. More news very soon...
"Special Z" teaser released...
The first teaser for the "Special Z" package
by Steve Gerlach, being released later this year, is now available. You'll find
it playing above the first news item on this page. (A flash plug-in will be needed for your browser to run
the teaser...)
More details of exactly what "Special Z" will contain
will be released in the leadup to the publishing date. Keep your eye on Terror Australis, plus Wildroses Productions, for more details.
